photo tip : angles

Here's my first installment of photo tips!

One of the best ways to make ordinary photos interesting is to try new angles.

For this one, I used the wide angle lens (EF 15-35mm), stood on the bed, lifted my camera and hoped for the best. Took me about 10 tries to get this particular shot.

Canon 5D Mark II (ISO 2500, f 2.8, 1/100)

I then switched my lens (50 mm, 1.4) and took these.

Canon 5D Mark II (ISO 800, f 1.4, 1/100)

See how it gives you a different perspective? Our tiny queen bed looks huge compared to our son...and that's exactly what I wanted to capture. I'm imagining that one day, he's going to be so tall and big that his legs would hang from the end of the bed. And when that happens, I'll look back at this image and remember how cute and small he *used* to be!

Other angles to try...
- lay on the floor and tilt your camera up towards your child
- zoom into their tiny hands, feet, etc.
