5 years

Can’t believe it’s already been 5 years…In the last 5 years, we bought a house, became parents to the most awesome kid ever, traveled to crazy places (Japan, Arkansas, Playa Del Carmen), and fought, ate, and laughed a lot. I know I don’t always show it, but know that I wouldn’t change a thing about us…well…maybe except your HAIR!

I love you!

Some moms feel sad or lonely when their child goes to sleep. They miss them and they can't wait for their child to wake up. I am not one of them. I, on the other hand, will do a happy dance when Blee goes to bed. Or takes a nap. Hallelujah, he is asleep! Finally, I get to sit in front of my laptop and waste time and money! YAY! (I'm just kidding, although I do give a sigh of relief when he falls asleep.)

In order to make sure Blee sleeps well, I plan my day to get him tired. REALLY tired. Yesterday, we went to the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach and made sure we wore him out. Jimmy bought a deal through Google offers, so off we went...

Unfortunately, the *totally new and much anticipated* penguin exhibit was not so great. I think they should have made it my expert opinion.

...although this penguin tunnel thing was pretty cool.

It's getting more and more difficult to photograph Blee. I keep yelling random things like "mail truck!" and "yellow ball!" I'm sure I look pretty crazy and desperate.

Doesn't he look super cute in his red Crocs?

The thing about going to aquariums is that we get hungry for seafood. Jimmy and I stared at the ginormous crab exhibit and mumbled, "that looks sooo good". Good thing GLADSTONES was just a walk away.

Here's my crab, shrimp and lobster linguine. Delicious.

After dinner, we walked around Shoreline Village. Why is it that every beachy area has a hot sauce store?

Needless to say, the kid knocked out and slept for 11 hours. Success!

first day of summer

The BESTEST thing about being a teacher is the summer vacation. I started counting down with my students about 2 months ago, and it's finally heerreee!!!

On the first day of summer, I made a little tiny lunch for Blee and headed to the beautiful Ryan Park in Palos Verdes.

*Edamame, cherry tomato from our garden, eggs, string cheese, sausage, and rice ball with chicken*

Despite the fact that we had breakfast right before we left, Blee wanted to eat as soon as we got there.

He ate everything except for the tomato...gotta work on that.

After lunch, Blee and daddy played together while I, of course, snapped some photos.

Can you believe this light? It's totally gorgeous.

Before we left, I took one last photo, I made sure I was in it.

I love the summer.

Father's Day 2012

Happy Father’s Day to the best daddy ever! Seriously, Jimmy is a far better parent than I am. I have heard my friends comment on how much Jimmy takes care of Blee and how good he is with him. How else would I have been able to leave for Japan for 10 days when Blee was only 9 months old? Or go to Seattle for a girl’s weekend when he was 15 months? I actually think he spends more time with him than with me. They really like each other.
So, I tried to best I could.
First up, he ate freshly baked croissants, thanks to Trader Joe’s frozen aisle.

He witnessed his son eat his first slice of bacon (surely a proud moment)

He opened some awesome gifts.

Went to church wearing his horrible awesome new I’m-a-totally-cool-dad tie.

And then came home and spent the rest of the day with family (Jimmy, his cousin R, Blee, and grandpa)

Happy Father's Day Jimmy! We love you!
