line 'em up!

Recently, Blee has been into lining up all his toys. ALL OF THEM.

I like it. Unlike me, my son is clean. Unlike me, he puts things back where they belong. If he sees a piece of clothing sticking out from one of the dresser drawers, he will go fix it. If he sees a teeny tiny piece of lint on the floor, he will go pick it up and throw it in the trash. Just the other day, he screamed, "Mommy, pick it up please," about our neighbor’s trash can because it had tipped over.

He is nothing like me.
He is everything like his daddy.

Instagram Friday

So glad it's FRIDAY!!!!!

My week in Instagram photos...

1. Made fun pancakes. My son ate "C" before I was able to grab my phone.

2. Spent time with my friends BBQ-ing and chillin in their pool. Good times...

3. Little kiddies were told to put rocks in a beer bottle. Kept them busy for awhile. Hey, whatever works.

4. Had my first Jamba Juice of the year. WTH

5. We were off work on Wednesday (thanks, LAUSD!) and drove over to the Cerritos Library for OUR family photo session.

6. The library has an aquarium. How cool is that?

7. Adorable.

8. Stopped by Downtown Disney for dinner.

9. Little boy waiting for dinner at Rascals. Or as Jimmy's grandma would say, Little Rascals.

Happy Friday!!

my fav : TV Food Maps

Jimmy recently told me about this app called TV Food Maps. Basically, it gives you a list of restaurants that have been featured in TV shows like Man vs Food, Cupcake Wars, and Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives.

The app is free if you don't mind the ads that occasionally pop on on the bottom. You can search for places to eat according to your location or by which show featured the restaurant.

You can also search according to the TV shows.

This app was very handy when we were in San Diego during the summer. Sometimes it's a little difficult to figure out places to go eat, but this app definitely helped us choose where to go. I'm excited to discover more places...especially in my hood!

fall photos

Our pastor greeted us this morning with "Happy Autumn"! And you know I sat there thinking, that's just crazy talk. I mean, just last week, I entered my classroom and saw that it was 86 degrees. 86 DEGREES.

Unbelievable.

Well, for those of you who are interested in shots that look seasonal, here are some fall photo ideas and tips.

1. Playing in pretty leaves. I know what you’re thinking. What leaves? The green ones on the trees? Weeellll, in the last several years, I’ve found 2 places in the South Bay with gorgeous leaves. The first one is on Del Amo Blvd between Hawthorne Blvd and Prairie. The leaves change color and if you’re lucky, you get piles and piles of golden leaves for your child to play in (and for you to take pictures).

*disclaimer – Del Amo Blvd is a pretty busy street. Please be careful of little kiddies running into the street*

The second place is next to the Malaga Cove library in Palos Verdes.

See?! Believe it or not, there are some decent places in the South Bay!

2. Take Halloween photos BEFORE Halloween. This way, you’re not rushed and stressed because your kids are about to bounce out of the house to get their yearly dose of sugar. Plus, if you’re like me, you never know what’s going to happen. Last year, I was taken to the hospital from work by an ambulance with acute pancreatitis and missed Halloween all together. Good thing I took photos of my son beforehand.

*Look for a cute backdrop to match the costume. Maybe a park for ladybugs or puppies, or a cool downtown building for a superhero*

3. Family photos are an important part of growing together as a family. Fall is the perfect time to schedule a session with your favorite photographer, or hire (bribe) your friend to come over to shoot some images. These images can then be made into holiday cards and doing it in the fall will give you enough time to address and stuff the envelopes. One of my former clients used to book me in the summer and had all the cards ready to go by the end of August. Extreme, yes. But that’s one less thing she had to worry about.

Happy shooting!

my fav : power juicer

I should start off by saying that I'm easily convinced. I like looking at the "as-seen-on-TV" section at the store, and I buy into almost anything. I was once the cupcake master, then moved onto being the cakepop master. I was also the scrapbook master, and a DIY master. They all lasted for about a month.

Now, I am working to become a juice master. I got a juicer for my birthday last year, and until last month, it has been in use twice. At the most. I guess I just like the idea of becoming a master of something.

Well, this time it's going to be different. I pulled my Jack LaLanne out a few weeks ago, and have been juicing up a storm.

It's been good so far. It definitely helps that my awesome husband is willing to clean it after I juice. I'm trying to find new recipes, and trying new ways to get my 2 year old to drink it. He refuses right now, and I think it's because of the smell. Any ideas?

photo albums

Bleh. This is how I feel when I look at the thousands *literally* of photos stored on my computer. I need to make a family album. NEED TO. It was on my to-do list for winter 2010, the year Blee was born. I then pushed it back to summer 2011 because I wanted one whole year of photos of Blee. Then, summer came and went…very quickly. It’s now September 2012. 2 YEARS have gone by and I don’t have a single photo album of our family. Shame on me. So, I’m going to say it out loud.

I WILL HAVE A FAMILY ALBUM BY THE END OF THE YEAR.

Did you hear me? It’s my goal. I’ll get back to you on December 31, 2012. I WILL have an album ready for my family.

I'm using blurb.com if you're curious. I'll let you know how it goes!

outtakes

My little boy used to be so easy to photograph. He gave me the biggest smile and was so happy to see me with my camera.

Well, lemme tell you. The truth is, it gets harder and harder to take good photos of my son. I take hundreds of photos of Blee...every month.

I truly believe that your own child is the hardest thing to shoot.

Here's my proof...
