Labor Day Weekend : SD

Our first night in SD was strange. We paid $7 to park in downtown to grab take-out at Napizza and then ran into 7-Eleven to get Children's Motrin and some fruit for the little guy to eat. After giving Blee a shot of Motrin, we ate in the hotel (which we never do) and sat around and watched TV (which we rarely do with Blee).

Then around 9pm, we heard the fireworks from Petco Park. We peeked out our window and saw several big ones between the tall buildings. Then we heard people screaming. We first thought it was coming from the hotel pool, but then we saw bikers blocking the streets. Hundreds of bikers. They were screaming and yelling at the intersection and stopped the cars from crossing the street. I wish I had taken a photo of the madness. So weird.

Next morning, we woke up and had breakfast at the Mission. Blee was still a little warmer than usual, but he was able to eat and was starting to be his normal self again. After Googling "what to do with kids in SD", we decided  to check out the Festival of Sail. According to Jimmy, the sight of pop-up tents get me very excited.

$10 each got us a ticket to go explore the many sailboats, submarines, and boats on the dock.

Hanging out in the smoking room. NBD.

Have you seen this before? Totally amazing. Jimmy called it the shaved-ice-syrup buffet.

The rest of the day was spent hanging out at Horton Plaza and napping at the hotel. The sun definitely got the best of us. We did, however, go to the Ghirardelli store and ate a ginormous ice cream sundae. We totally didn't need the calories, but it was delicious.

Next stop...Sea Life Aquarium!
