potty train...revised

I spoke too soon about Blee's potty training success. This is how I feel about it now.

Bleh. I feel defeated. But definitely not as defeated as my son when he couldn't get the yoga ball between the castle and the steps while holding a wrapping paper roll. Trajedy.

I guess we'll just keep trying...

christmas day 2012

Christmas 2012 started at 5:30am for us.

Blee woke up to a full-blown train set in front of the Christmas tree, courtesy of Jimmy's cousin. This was his 3rd Christmas, and as with the previous years, we decided against buying him anything. We figured that a full set of hand-me-down trains and tracks were more than enough.

We were right...Blee was more than excited! Jimmy stayed up and added a Duplo clock tower and a tunnel which made it even better.

*These photos were taken at ISO 1250, f2.8 at 1/100. Our house has the most horrible lighting, so I had to bump my ISO pretty high and white balance afterwards*

This year's Christmas Story was brought to us by Lego, aka the Brick-Testament.

Jimmy made our annual homemade cinnamon rolls.

The kid clearly enjoyed it.

After breakfast, he went back to opening more gifts from his friends...

...but just like last year, he ended up in the box. Hilarious.

After a quick nap, we headed over to Jimmy's aunt's house to hang out with the fam.

The rest of the day consisted of eating, drinking, and more eating.

Happy Birthday Jesus!

potty train

We officially started potty training last Friday and so far, so good. We've been doing a lot of high-fives and happy cheers. A big thanks goes to Jimmy for staying at home with him while I ran around with last minute errands for Christmas.

We still have mini accidents, and we still need to work out the kinks, but hopefully Blee will be ready to go when pre-school starts up.

My mom bought him Anpanman and Thomas undies when she went to Japan. The kid is very happy to wear them around the house.

merry christmas!

"Away in a manger, no crib for a bed,
the little Lord Jesus laid down his sweet head.
The stars in the sky looked down where he lay,
the little Lord Jesus, asleep on the hay.
The cattle are lowing, the baby awakes,
but little Lord Jesus, no crying he makes;
I love thee, Lord Jesus, look down from the sky
and stay by my cradle till morning is nigh.
Be near me, Lord Jesus, I ask thee to stay
close by me forever, and love me, I pray;
bless all the dear children in thy tender care,
and fit us for heaven to live with thee there."

Merry Christmas!

instagram friday

It's not Friday, but I'm here to dump all my Instagram photos from the last 2 weeks...

1. Came home to this totally sweet box with a Nutella brownie, an Oreo cookie, a gingerbread cupcake, and a coconut pastry. YUM

2. Blee had a playdate with his buddy at Sillygoose Playground.

3. Knocked out Christmas gifts at Color Me Mine.

4. Helped out with the Angel Tree program at church.

5. Played Settlers of Catan for 2 nights in a row. I lost both times. Bleh.

6. Helped our friends put up their Christmas lights.

7. Blee discovered daddy's old toy. Totally intrigued.

8. Bought donuts for my students on the last day of school. I say it's much better than candy canes.

9. My co-worker's sweetest little daughter came to visit!

10. Pajama buddies.

11. Waited for santa to arrive at our annual church Christmas party.

12. Decorated sugar cookies with friends.

13. Visited daddy's work for the first time (and ate yummy kogi quesadillas/tacos)

14. Got an early Christmas present!

15. Tested out the fish-eye.

16. Walked around Candy Cane Lane with Sarah.

17. Breakfast at Rudy's. I'm not a breakfast person, but it was pretty delicious.

18. Blee's art project from his preschool. Baby Jesus in a manger surrounded by pretty beads. Love it.

Merry Christmas!

little lamb

Last week, Blee had a Christmas performance at his pre-school. I didn't really know what to expect, and almost didn't make it (I had a severe headache), but I'm SO glad I went! Blee and his classmates were great and I had so much fun watching the little kids dance. I'm pretty sure I was grinning ear-to-ear.

He and his classmates were little sheep who performed during the telling of the Christmas story.

Yea, that would be my boy rocking it.

Santa came to visit at the end of the performance and gave out presents.

felt christmas tree

I'm falling behind on my posts...I forgot to share this one...

During Thanksgiving week, a kid from church came by to drop off an early Christmas gift for Blee. And when I say "a kid from church," I really mean "the big kid from church who now attends Cal Poly San Luis Obispo." His name is Eli, and he is truly one of the sweetest "kids" I know.

Eli dropped off a Christmas tree made of felt, along with few felt ornaments. He thought Blee would like it, and wanted us to have it before Christmas. So, so sweet.

I was pretty excited when I saw what he had brought. I quickly got on and ordered a pack of felt.

I made some ornaments...

...and completed our very first felt Christmas tree.

Eli - thank you so much for the tree! I'm going to try and add more ornaments each year. It'll be a part of our Christmas tradition.

It’s been awhile since I posted any videos of Blee. He started singing about a month ago and the kid is unstoppable.

instagram friday

Our week in instagram photos (actually...the last 2 weeks in instagram photos)

1. We've been singing Christmas songs almost every night. Daddy's on the ukulele, Blee is on drums, and I get to request the songs.

2. We went to Korean BBQ after our family photo session. I'm pretty sure Blee ate a whole plate of meat all by himself. He made us proud!

3. Tried out the Torrance bakery deli.

4. Last Sunday was our church's annual Hanging of the Greens. Blee enjoyed making the Advent wreath candle thing.

5. Two half-pound Reese's. Pretty much dangerous.

6. Late night ice cream run. Pumpkin and banana creme ice cream.

7. Took Blee to the park since it finally stopped raining.

8. Our felt Christmas tree, courtesy of our friend Eli. Can you spot R2-D2?

That's it for now! Have a great weekend!
