anpanman museum

Anpanman. I have blogged about these strange bread-and-food based creatures before. Even though Anpanman was around when I was a kid, it's insane how popular the characters have become. They are EVERYWHERE and the kiddies in Japan are absolutely mesmerized and obsessed with these superheroes--so much that they have a whole museum devoted to Anpanman and his friends. And not just a museum...they also have a slew of shops and restaurants, bookstores, arcades, and a hair salon...all based on Anpanman.

Craziness.

What's even crazier is that we willingly joined in the madness.

So, since pictures are worth a thousand words, here are some photos from the Anpanman Museum and Mall.

After awhile, these characters grow on you. How can you not like the samurai with a rice ball head?

The museum had a ton of events for the kids throughout the day including a live show, arts and crafts, meet & greet, story time, and cooking classes.
Waiting for the puppet show to start...

Right outside the museum was the Anpanman mall. The mall had a bakery, a bookstore, restaurants, clothing stores, a hair salon, and an arcade.

Arcade area...

Cutest bakery EVER.

Food Court...

Needless to say, we spent the whole entire day chillin' out maxin' relaxin' all cool with Anpanman and his buddies. It was a good day.

By the way, our hotel was right next to the Shinjuku Station. The Shinjuku Station is the world's busiest transport hub with more than 3.6 MILLION people PER DAY. Some days we literally had to fight our way through to get to the right train.

Next up...Odaiba!
